Family Builders Ministries conducted its inaugural Marriage Mentor Training Seminar on November 17 & 18 at the Alton Bay Christian Conference Center in Alton Bay, New Hampshire. Eighteen people representing nine different churches participated in the training led by Rev. Willie Batson, President of Family Builders Ministries. He was assisted by Jere Vincent of Durham, NH and Jerry & Jane Serfass of New Fairfield, CT.
Our two-day Marriage Mentor Training Seminar is designed to train a lead couple (or couples) from a church with the required skills and tools for mentoring couples and for recruiting and training other marriage mentors. Seminar participants received training in the essential skills for marriage mentoring ... building rapport, working as a team, asking meaningful questions, listening aggressively, telling your stories, praying together, spotting red flags, and more.

Willie Batson, President of Family Builders Ministries, was the lead trainer.

Seminar participants received a "Marriage Mentoring Tool Bag" loaded with resources.

The sessions were intense but the participants were eager to learn how to strengthen marriages.

Couples were given opportunities to practice mentoring each other using the skills taught in the seminar.

Jere Vincent, marriage ministry team leader and mentor from Durham, NH, assisted in the training sessions.

Jerry & Jane Serfass, experienced marriage mentors from New Fairfield, CT, assisted in the training sessions.

Cindy & Willie Batson practiced one of the couple exercises. This was only Cindy's second weekend in ministry since breaking her hip in August.
